Passengers on the Spirit will not only hear from experts but receive a detailed itinerary and map showing river sites and significance both for the Lewis and Clark story and also the Chinook and Clatsop people they met.
Re-familiarize yourself with the Lewis and Clark story and the tribes they met at the coast, review history of early explorations and subsequent developments since 1805-06, meet Lewis and Clark scholars from around the nation and representatives of the Clatsop/Nehalem,Tillamook and Chinook Indian tribes.
The day begins with a continental breakfast, hear two different lectures on relevant topics regarding Lewis and Clark and the coastal area, meet tribal representatives and buy native-made gifts, cruise the Lower Columbia for three hours with narration from a variety of experts, and enjoy a hot plated lunch.
Guests on the Spirit will include authors like Dr. Gary Moulton, editor of the Journals of the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
