About Us

The Friends Of Old Fort Stevens, Inc., is a nonprofit corporation with an IRS 501©3 status. This means that all donations my be tax deductible (please check with your accountant). Funds, including those that are earned by the Friends Of Old Fort Stevens are used to enhance historical Fort Stevens State Park. The mission of the Friends is to support Oregon State Parks in the interpretation of Fort Stevens history and in the preservation of its artifacts.

Fort Stevens was a coastal defense fort and saw active service from the Civil War days to the end of World War II.

Fort Stevens Historic Area has many interesting artifacts from its fort days that continue to intrigue visitors. Examples are the reconstruction of the Civil War earthworks ? still in progress; Battery Russell, the gun battery in the line of fire from a Japanese submarine during World War II; the near-by Pacific Rim Peace Memorial; and Battery Mishler, a one of a kind battery and the underground command post for the Columbia River forts.
